Transfer Apple Mail Notes from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion

MacJunky - Transfer Apple Mail Notes from Snow Leopard to Mountain LionToday I had a client with many Notes in Apple Mail within Snow Leopard but we needed to upgrade her OS to Mountain Lion, and I know Notes don’t work in the 10.8.x Mail app anyone, as it has a separate app that handles the Notes (not so well)

When you use the migrate function on Macs these things will migrate over to the Notes app, but as I wasn’t migrating (I always rather install a fresh OS) I had to figure out a way to move all the Notes over.

One way was to drag-drop the notes one by one on to a new folder then import them, not very elegant.

The better way is to locate the Library folder within the Home folder, there you will find a Mail folder that holds all Mails and Notes, locate the Mailboxes folder then the Notes.mbox and when in Mountain Lion just use the import function.

This will bring back all the notes into Apple Mail and also into the Notes app (if you ever wanted to use it)
