Not once, not twice but maybe over ten times, Kia has came to our location in Haarlem to sort out the mess we had made with our system.
With big issues and major obstacles we were always amazed with the simple solutions he came up with, like: If we place a server on location we can update, sync and gain access to the files from all over the world. Simple setup that makes life easy. We were amazed every time.
If you’re moving over to an Apple system, you need a guy like Kia. Only then can you appreciate the simple solutions he offers. We love it when we tell him a long story regarding what we want, and he asks you short questions like, why?

The VPN service in OS X Server is a very good way to keep the information going between you and the server secure.
I will share how to setup the service and how to connect to it while you are either on the road via your MacBook, iPhone and iPad.
VPN is a service that creates a ‘tunnel’ between your device and the server so the data that travels is secure. I use my VPN while I am in a café or while on holiday in a hotel.
I don’t really want/need anyone to know what I am doing on the internet, nor do I need anyone’s prying eyes on any of my clients details.

There is a simple way to forward emails to more than one user within Mountain Lion Server. The old way was to do some fancy typing within Terminal App, it was reserved to real geeks, as as you know me, I always like to find the simplest solution to any problem.
And this is one of those, no hacking needed, no geekieness, and no headaches.

I have installed many Servers and I thought it was time to show my readers how easy it is to install a new server on any Mac.

The Server application is available from the Apple App Store at a very reasonable price of €17.99 this is pretty amazing for such a powerful ‘application’ not long ago it used to sell for over €1000
Launch the App Store application on your Mac, search for ‘Server’ and it will be one of the fist application available for purchase.

Today I installed Daylite for a user that didn’t have a Server and as Marketcircle haven’t released their Cloud service yet I had to come up with a solution for the client to have her information on the iPhone as well as her MacBook Pro.

Well in my personal crusade on having your data safe on your own personal server I find news like this heartwarming.
I don’t wish anyone to be hacked, it’s happened to me and a few of my sites, so to have your personal/client information safe should be paramount, hence why I always tell my clients not to use online services for sensitive information, including Agendas, Contacts, Files etc etc

Ik gebruik nu tien jaar apple en nooit problemen gehad die ik niet zelf kon oplossen. Maar eens komt toch die dag. Nu apple groot wordt krijgt het ook de service van een groot bedrijf en dat is jammer. Maar er schijnt nog licht aan de horizon.
